Likes fantasy, sci-fi, classics, dystopias, and, you know, this and that. In other news, I love science (seriously, it’s the best!), and nature, and dogs, and curling up with a cup of tea. Binge-watching tv-series is also good – sci-fi (Doctor Who, Stargate, Star Trek), british (preferably) crime dramas, and others.

Back to books. Favourites include, but are not limited to:

Fantasy: Harry Potter (well duh), the His Dark Materials triology (Philip Pullman), LOTR (Tolkien), it’s been ages but I really like Robin Hobb’s Ship series… And a recent series that sailed in with ease as one of my all time favourites: The Lady Trent series (Marie Brennan). Other recent fantasy books I loved include the Peter Grant series (Ben Aaronovitch), Uprooted (Naomi Novik) and Lips touch (Laini Taylor). The latter is a collection of 3 short(ish) stories and has me really excited for other works by the same author.

Sci-fi: Relatively new genre (in books) for me, have lots and lots left to read (yay!). Loved Ender’s game (Orson Scott Card). Quite enjoyed The long way to a small angry planet (Becky Chambers).

Classics: Wuthering heights (Emily Brontë), Jane Eyre (Charlotte Brontë), Persuasion (Jane Austen), One day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich (Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn), Frankenstein (Mary Shelley), The Portrait of Dorian Grey (Oscar Wilde)… there must be others but those are the ones I remembered right now.

Dystopias: A Clockwork Orange (Anthony Burgess), Brave New World (Aldous Huxley), Animal Farm (George Orwell), The Handmaid’s Tale (Margaret Atwood). A new one I loved: The Circle (Dave Eggers).
